The present Ordinance enforces the Federal Spatial Information Act of 5 October 2007. The present Ordinance applies to both geobase data of federal and cantonal legislation. The text consists of 56 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Cantonal spatial information infrastructure system (II); Cadastre of public legal restrictions on landownership (III); Official survey (IV); Fees (V).

This Regional law establishes that Legislative Assembly shall have the following plenary powers: (a) setting land price public and municipal land plots subject to sale; (b) validation of the categories of public servants that shall have the right to fixed-term land tenure free of charge of land parcels and establishment of terms and conditions for the allotment of the aforesaid land parcels; and (c) validation of the list of agricultural land plots that cannot be used for other purposes.

This Governmental Decree establishes the modalities of veterinary zoning of the national territory with a view of identification of infectious animal diseases. Competent state body in the sphere of veterinary shall establish veterinary and sanitary well-being status of the national territory and shall compile epizootic map of veterinary zoning of the national territory. Territorial area having well-being status shall have protection zone separating it from territory with a different veterinary and sanitary status.

This Act makes provision for a wide variety of matters relating to land tenure and reform in Lesotho including the definition of rights in land, allocation of land in rural areas, grant of title in land, vesting of land in authorities, government acquisitions and acquisition and expropriation of land for public purpose, grant of long-term leases and regularization and adjudication of title in land, including resolution of disputes by specialized land courts established under this Act. All land in Lesotho is vested in the Basotho Nation and is held in trust by the King.

The present Ordinance implements the federal legislation on official land survey and the Law of 26 November 1995 on official land survey. In particular, article 1 establishes that the Spatial Information Office shall be responsible for the land survey in the Canton St. Gallen. This Presidential Decree designates the Federal Agency of Immovable Property as the authorized federal executive body responsible for keeping the state land cadastre, conducting land valuations and survey, and enforcing land legislation. It shall have the following plenary powers: (a) territorial land use planning; (b) cadastre registration of immovable property; (c) mapping; (d) reports on administrative offences related to land legislation; and (e) protection of classified information.

This Law is composed of 9 chapters, setting out the duties of the State and regulating land surveys and cartographic activities in order to create a framework for such activities and to provide a professional and efficient service. Chapter 5 deals with the carrying out of land surveys. Ownership questions and cartographic activities are regulated in Chapter 7. Administrative provisions are set forth in Chapter 8 in which the Commission of coordination of Land Survey and Mapping is established.

The exact description and delimitation of habitat types are an important tool and a basic condition for the protection and effective management of the natural environment and biodiversity in Greece. It is also a bounding obligation towards the competent EU bodies. Previously registered habitats (period 1999−2001) concerned in total 237 land areas totaling roughly 2 millions hectares of land. This work was the first and only mapping of habitat types in protected areas, resulting in the production of thematic maps (habitat type maps).
