This Order establishes the declaration of protected place. It specifies the place in the first column of the Schedule, more particularly described in the plan specified in the second column deposited in the office of the Surveyor-General, is hereby declared to be a protected place for the purposes of the Act.

The present Act provides for the establishment of the protected park area St. Lawrence. To this end the St. Lawrence Parks Commission is continued as a corporation without share capital under the name St. Lawrence Parks Commission in English and Commission des parcs du Saint-Lawrence in French.

The exact description and delimitation of habitat types are an important tool and a basic condition for the protection and effective management of the natural environment and biodiversity in Greece. It is also a bounding obligation towards the competent EU bodies. Previously registered habitats (period 1999−2001) concerned in total 237 land areas totaling roughly 2 millions hectares of land. This work was the first and only mapping of habitat types in protected areas, resulting in the production of thematic maps (habitat type maps).

The Act aims to establish a framework for the protection of surface and groundwater and for planning within the international nature protection areas. The Minister of Environment and Food shall regulate provisions for the international water districts and for each of them, there must be a water level. Each river district shall have a protection area in order to allow shellfish (bivalve and snails molluscs) life and growth. This Decision approves the master plan on the socio-economic development in the northern midland and mountainous region through 2020.
