De processen achter de verstening van het buitengebied zijn in beeld gebracht door een combinatie van interviews, archiefonderzoek en geografische informatie. Het studiegebied bestaat uit de gemeenten Boxtel, Schijndel en Sint-Oedenrode. Bebouwing is vooral mogelijk door de ruimte die bestemmingsplannen biedt volledige te gebruiken. Ook wordt er voor economische belangen afgeweken van bestemmingsplannen met instemming van gemeenten en provincie. Toch wordt er vooral gebouwd op bestaande bouwblokken in het buitengebied en ontstaan er relatief weinig nieuwe bouwblokken.

Het beleid voor het platteland staat in de Agenda Vitaal Platteland. Deze studie beschrijft het opzetten van een monitoringsystematiek voor een afrekenbaar plattelandsbeleid. Of het beleid en de monitoring goed ‘gelukt’ zijn, is pas goed te bespreken bij de eindevaluatie in 2014. De studie beschrijft de stappen die gemaakt zijn in het proces. De auteur evalueert waar mogelijk het proces op basis van criteria die zijn ontleend aan beleidsstukken en literatuur.

European rural areas have changed considerably in the past decades. Agriculture intensified whilst in other areas it marginalized. The rural landscape changed and it will continue to change in future. The forces driving that change are increasingly global by nature: demography, economic growth, climate change and international trade policies. The Eururalis 2.0 project assesses the combined impact of these driving forces. The results are published on a computer based tool to support discussions and to raise awareness of future changes in rural areas.

Deze literatuurstudie brengt de verwachtingen, zorgen en discussiepunten in beeld rond de implementatie van het Investeringsbudget Landelijk Gebied (ILG) in 2007. Hierbij is aandacht besteed aan verticale sturing (tussen overheidslagen), horizontale sturing (tussen overheden en maatschappelijke organisaties) en integrale sturing (tussen verschillende sectoren). Vooral van provincies wordt in het ILG veel verwacht, zoals het combineren van een regierol met het betrekken van maatschappelijke organisaties, gemeenten, waterschappen en burgers bij planvorming en uitvoering.

Politieke, economische en maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen zullen de komende jaren gevolgen hebben voor de ruimtelijke ontwikkelingen in Nederland. Die ontwikkelingen zullen niet egaal over Nederland plaatsvinden. Hoe krijgen we een beeld van wat we waar kunnen verwachten? Zo zal de landbouw zich moeten aanpassen aan nieuw gebruikers. De gebieden die het betreft, zijn divers van aard.

Secure access to productive land is critical to the millions of poor people living in rural areas and depending on agriculture, livestock or forests for their livelihood. It reduces their vulnerability to hunger and poverty; influences their capacity to invest in their productive activities and in the sustainable management

Ce document prsente une synthse des travaux de la runion et les diffrents articles qui ont t produits par les participants, les partenaires du rseau et les collgues de la FAO, loccasion de cette rencontre.

HIV and AIDS has exacerbated the vulnerability of orphaned children who are suffering in a vicious cycle of poverty, food insecurity, lack of access to education, and insecure livelihoods. Moreover, orphaned children are exposed to various forms of abuse by close family members, many of whom are their guardians. Movable and immovable properties that are left by their deceased parents are often confiscated by such guardians.

This report is based on the proceedings of the Technical Consultation on Gender, Property Rights and Livelihoods in the Era of AIDS, organized by FAO in November 2008. It takes stock of where FAO and its partners are in terms of addressing property rights insecurity and provides a proposed framework through which future action can take place.

In September 2008, the FAO-Dimitra project organised its third workshop with all its partners in Brussels, on the theme:“Information and communication strategies to fight gender inequality as regards land access and its consequences for rural populations in Africa”. This document presents a synthesis of the workshop’s activities as well as the different articles which were prepared for the workshop by the participants – the partners of the network and FAO colleagues.
