Appraisal of Potato Production Practices in the Adamawa and West regions of Cameroon. Baseline Survey Report

We conducted a baseline survey to appraise the current potato practices and farming systems in the Adamawa
and West regions of Cameroon where a GIZ-funded project (ONE WORLD – No Hunger, or SEWOH) titled "Green
Innovation Centers for the Agricultural and Food Sector" (ProCISA) is being implemented. We employed a mix
of qualitative and quantitative methods to gather and analyze data/information. This study focused on potato
farmers that have been into potato production for at least two years.

Assessment of the ability of formal seed companies to produce and distribute forage seeds in Uganda

The information below was obtained through a survey carried out by a face to face interview using a questionnaire that was prepared to analyze the forage seed production and supply system in Uganda. Out of the 9 formal seed companies that sell forage seeds, only 6 like Robran Holdings Ltd, NARO Holdings Ltd, National Tree seed Centre, Rhino seeds, Sim law seeds and East Africa Seeds participated in the survey. The other 3 like Victoria seeds, FORESCO Uganda and grow more seeds and Chemicals had technical and administrative constraints that hindered their participation.

The AsiaBlight Network operates and works replying on CCCAP’s arrangement. which is an open and inclusive non-profit cooperation and exchange platform composed of scientists, entrepreneurs, growers, agricultural technology extension workers and administrative decision-makers committed to solving the problem of late blight in the Asia Pacific region. Its purpose is to serve potato farmers - 1 -in the Asia Pacific region and improve the ability to solve potato late blight in the region. At present, the AsiaBlight Network has more than 300 members in China.

Examining social accountability tools in the water sector: a case study from Nepal

Enhancing accountability has become an important objective of the governance reforms over the past two decades. Yet, only a few studies have explored the use of social accountability tools in the water sector in particular. This report aims to fill this gap, based on a case study of a donor-funded water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) program in Nepal. We document and analyze the effects of two types of social accountability tools implemented by the program: public hearings and social audits.

Forests and woodlands remain under threat in tropical Africa due to excessive exploitation and inadequate management interventions, and the isolated success stories of tree retention and tree cover transition on African agricultural land are less well documented. In this study, we characterize the status of tree cover in a landscape that contains forest patches, fallows, and farms in the southern part of Uluguru Mountains.

In 2021 the Government of Tanzania released a revised edition of their manual for participatory village land use planning. The manual includes and promotes the joint village land use planning (JVLUP) approach, which ILRI has been supporting the government to develop and pilot. This will encourage the upscaling of JVLUP across the country improving the security of tenure of pastoralists and laying the foundation for improved rangeland management.

Foliar application of fertilizers can guarantee nutrient availability to beans, leading to higher yield and seed quality. Different approaches including glycine have been used to improve mineral nutrient status of plants toward safer products and improved human health. However, limited research has been undertaken to understand the response of beans to amino Zn and Mg foliar
