Esta publicatión pretende servir como material de referencia en el campo de los inventarios de recursos de productos forestales no madereros (PFNM).

The paper briefly reviews the mandates and main activities of some major governmental and non-governmental international organizations concerned with the management of forest genetic resources, and the role that such organizations play in this field. It is noted that national forest genetic programmes will continue to constitute the building blocks of regional and global programmes, but that these can be usefully complemented by harmonization of action at international level.

Les déficits pluviométriques périodiques ainsi que les fortes pressions humaines et animales dues à une croissance démographique élevée ont eu des impacts néfastes sur la plupart des écosystèmes et certaines espèces forestières. Différentes actions ont été réalisées afin de tenter de reconstituer le milieu naturel mais sans grande efficacité. La conservation et la gestion rationnelle figurent au nombre des options stratégiques adoptées afin de restaurer l’équilibre écologique, bien qu’elles soient toutefois limitées pour diverses raisons.

The future state of forestry in Angola is assessed in this report in the light of prevailing factors influencing its development. Implications for industry, society and the environment are discussed.

The current publication «State of the Forest Genetic Resources in Sudan» is issue of country national report presented at The Sub- Regional Workshop FAO/IPGRI/ICRAF on the conservation, management, sustainable utilization and enhancement of forest genetic resources in Sahelian and North-Sudanian Africa (Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, 22-24 September 1998).

An analysis of change drivers in forestry in present day Madagascar, with estimates of how they might shape forestry over the next twenty years. This is followed by a discussion of how desirable change can be facilitated.
