Bodemgebruik omvat alle handelingen die worden uitgevoerd ten behoeve van inrichting, onderhoud en gebruik van recreatieve voorzieningen. Met recreatieve voorzieningen in het landelijk gebied wordt o.a. gedacht aan sportvelden, golfterreinen, faciliteiten voor paardensport, wandel- en fietspaden, recreatieterreinen, attractieparken, evenemententerreinen, volkstuincomplexen, campings en bungalowparken. Aan de hand van bodemfuncties is voor alle voorkomende handelingen een analyse gemaakt van de duurzaamheid ervan.

This paper serves three purposes. First, it gives a short introduction to the concept of sustainability in relation to land use. Since the Brundtland report it has become clear that sustainability is a dynamic concept that changes when conditions in society change. Moreover, it is easier to assess what is `unsustainable¿ than what is `sustainable¿. But that will not suppress the demand for sustainable developments.

These production systems may be more sustainable than many of those in current use, but there is also the risk that the growing demand for biofuels will cause land degradation, deforestation and food scarcity.

The degradation of soils with high sand content, in the southwest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, is due to the vegetal cover withdrawal, forming sandy areas called "areais", which pose a risk to animal husbandry and the prairie ecosystem. A technique of revegetation with cover crops such as Avena strigosa Schieb. and Lupinus albescens H. et Arn., was developed to reduce the soil particle movement by eolic erosion.

Uitvoering en controle van milieuregelgeving en natuur‐ en landschapsbeleid vereist een nauwkeurige administratie van grotendeels plaatsgebonden activiteiten. Hierbij zijn verschillende partijen (overheden, agrariërs, agrarische organisaties) betrokken met elk hun eigen informatie behoeftes bovendien wordt er tussen deze partijen informatie uitgewisseld.

Cees-Jan Nell uit Langbroek is één van de 48 deelnemers aan het project 'Duurzaam Bodembeheer', hoewel eerdere metingen uitwezen dat het met de N-kringloop op zijn bedrijf wel goed zit. Eigenlijk deed de veehouder dus al aan duurzaam bodembeheer. Zijn deelname aan het project moet ervoor zorgen dat hij meer grip krijgt op maatregelen om zijn goede resultaten te versterken

De publicatie Landschap beschermen en ontwikkelen: evaluatie en beleidsopties is een beknopte studie van het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving (PBL) naar het landschapsbeleid in Nederland. Het PBL brengt deze notitie uit naar aanleiding van de Kamerbehandeling van de Agenda Landschap. En de conclusie luidt: Zowel op het gebied van de algemene landschapskwaliteit, van de Nationale Landschappen als ook de balans tussen rood en groen rond de steden is de kans om binnen de gestelde termijnen de gewenste doelen te bereiken zeer beperkt
