Context Assessment: Analysis of the biophysical, sociopolitical, economic and agroecological context in Attapeu Province Lao PDR

декабря, 2022
Global

The purpose of the Context Assessment is threefold: first, to characterize the location of the ALL, as well as its environmental, social, and economic context; second, to understand the data and information currently available in each ALL, and third to characterize how and the extent to which agroecological principles are already being employed in each ALL. The source of information has been from secondary and primary data. The latter from specific activities that other work packages recently developed.

AICCRA validation report: Piloting and validating the Climate Security Sensitivity Scoring Tool (CSST): Evidence from the field on the climate security sensitivity of the climate smart village approach in Jirapa, Ghana.

декабря, 2022
Ghana

A one-day workshop in Jirapa, Ghana was organized to test the results of the Climate Security Sensitivity Tool (CSST) and reflect on the reliability of its recommendations. This document reports on the results of the CSST piloted on the Climate Smart Village (CSV) approach implemented in Jirapa and on the outcomes of the workshop that reflected upon these results and recommendations.

An index for enabling socially inclusive digital innovation processes in food, land, and water systems

декабря, 2022
Global

Currently metrics for assessing digital inclusivity focus on evaluating the outcomes of digital innovation rather than the process of developing such innovations. Digital inclusivity has five different dimensions, spanning both technical and social aspects, and therefore requires a holistic approach to attain. We propose a digital inclusivity index as a holistic and standard guideline for enabling digital inclusivity in food land and water systems.

Accelerating the utilization of climate-smart agriculture technologies and innovations: How existing policies can foster investment decisions?

декабря, 2022
Global

This Info Note documents AICCRA engagement and technical assistance to 12 countries in West Africa and the Sahel on how to leverage on existing policies to foster investments for scaling CSA technologies. At least one national policy document on climate change exists in each of the countries. Leveraging on the visions and strategic orientations of these climate policies, relevant CSA technologies and innovations were prioritized. Subsequently, need quantification was made.

NATURE+ in India - Report 2023 & Outlook 2024

декабря, 2022
India

In India, the CGIAR Initiative on Nature-Positive Solutions works in remote parts of Western India’s Maharashtra State. NATURE+ and its partners selected several sites (called clusters) for their high potential for implementing nature-positive activities to improve nutrition, climate resilience, food security and to conserve nature. People in these tribal areas also have rich traditional knowledge that is key to natural solutions.

A rapid agroecological mango value chain analysis in Kenya

декабря, 2022
Kenya

Mango is one of the most important and popular fruit crops in Kenya. It is ranked second after bananas in monetary value (E4C, 2020) and is the third-leading horticultural crop in Kenya, with a total value of 8.6% (HCD, 2020). Since 2010, Kenya has been producing an average of 650,000 metric tons of mangoes annually, which generates an average of USD 84.4 million in gross production value. Recent statistics show that production has increased rapidly since the mid-2000s, growing at a rate of 9.2% per annum, correlating with the increases in mango exports.

Identification of Gendered Trait Preferences among Rice Producers Using the G+ Breeding Tools: Implications for Rice Improvement in Ghana

декабря, 2022
Ghana

Rice is the main staple for more than half of the world’s population. In Ghana, rice is the fastest growing food commodity, and it is consumed by almost every household. However, yields continue to be low, as the pace of adoption of new varieties is low. The low rate of adoption has been attributed to failure of modern breeding to incorporate preferred traits for end users. This study thus employed an innovative set of breeding tools, the G+ tools, in identifying gendered trait preferences to develop a robust product profile through a mixed-method approach.

Report on underlying drivers of deforestation in Colombia

декабря, 2022
Colombia

In the frame of AgriLAC resiliente, a framework to integrate climate change mitigation priorities (through low emission food systems) and development priorities will be developed. To inform the development of this framework, a non-systematic literature review has been carried out in order to understand the underlying causes of deforestation in Colombia, and how they can be linked to the food systems dimensions. This report presents the main findings of the literature reviewed.

Strengthening multi-stakeholder agroecology platforms in Peru: A landscape analysis.

декабря, 2022
Peru

Using multi-stakeholder platforms offers a promising approach for sharing agricultural innovation, reducing transaction costs, and catalyzing development through stimulating stakeholder engagement in the innovation process to accelerate food systems transformation. Agriculture-related multi-stakeholder platforms (AMSPs) are major players to intervention strategies of agricultural development programs. However, often AMSPs have faced multiple challenges that limit and negatively impact their functions.

Modeling genotype × environment × management interactions for a sustainable intensification under rainfed wheat cropping system in Morocco

декабря, 2022
Morocco

Under the conditions of Moroccan rainfed agricultural areas, wheat cropping systems—the population’s basic staple food—are subject to a set of limitations that seasonally impact crop production and farmers’ incomes, thus national food security. In the last decades, the major constraints were often related to the country’s Mediterranean-type climate, through the intense recurrence of drought events and high inter- and intra-annual rainfall fluctuations.
