The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

En virtud de esta Ley se declara de prioridad nacional y necesidad departamental e interés social la forestación y reforestación de las zonas desérticas y semidesérticas del Departamento de Chuquisaca. Se encomienda a los Ministerios de Medio Ambiente y Agua, de Desarrollo Rural y Tierras en coordinación con el Gobierno Autónomo Departamental de Chuquisaca y los Gobiernos Autónomos Municipales de Chuquisaca, la elaboración de los proyectos a diseño final de forestación y reforestación en zonas desérticas y semidesérticas para su ejecución en el Departamento de Chuquisaca.
Resolución Nº 449/2013 - Créase el Programa Nacional de Titulación y Arraigo Rural.
En virtud de esta Resolución se crea el Programa Nacional de Titulación y Arraigo Rural , con el objetivo de promover prácticas de preservación y optimización en el uso de la tierra, conforme beneficiarios, objetivos y estrategias y que se detallan en el anexo. El Programa indica las distintas situaciones de tenencia de la tierra a regularizar, que contemplan : a) ocupación de tierras fiscales; b) ocupación de tierras privadas; c) campos comuneros; d) aparcerías precarias; e) comunidades indígenas.
Regional Law No. 203-ZO “On turnover of agricultural land”.
This Regional Law establishes rules for organizations related to turnover of land parcels and shares of land parcels of agricultural land. It shall not be applicable to agricultural land allotted for subsistence farming, stockbreeding, horticulture and gardening for individual personal needs. Regional Government shall nominate authorized regional state institution competent in the sphere of turnover of agricultural land and transactions therewith. Minimum land area of agricultural land to be allotted for efficient production of agricultural commodities shall be 2 ha.
Regional Law No. 172-ZO “On conservation of agricultural soil fertility through biologization”.
The scope of this Regional Law shall be to ensure reproduction of agricultural land fertility through biologization of arable farming by land owners, land tenants, including lease holders. Owners, tenants and lease holders of agricultural land shall have the following rights: (a) carry out phytoagrotechnical, phytosanitary, land reclamation and anti-erosion arrangements; and (b) have access to information related to soil fertility managed by state bodies.
Regional Law No. 215-ZO “On maximum dimensions of land area allotted for subsistence farming”.
This Regional Law establishes that maximum dimensions of land area allotted for subsistence farming that can be owned and (or) possessed in any other form by citizens carrying out subsistence farming shall amount to 25 ha.
