Once the seat of Viking raiders and later a major north European power, Denmark has evolved into a modern, prosperous nation that is participating in the general political and economic integration of Europe. It joined NATO in 1949 and the EEC (now the EU) in 1973. However, the country has opted out of certain elements of the EU's Maastricht Treaty, including the European Economic and Monetary Union, European defense cooperation, and issues concerning certain justice and home affairs.

Denmark is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy.

Order No. 1452 on notification and documentation of removal of land/soil.

The Order establishes regulations of review and documentation for the removal and transfer of land in adherence with municipal rules on notification of waste. It includes the excavation of soil which is contaminated as well as soil located away from predefined areas, such as public highways and designated properties. The excavation and transfer of soil that cannot wait prior reviews, may immediatelly be moved to temporary location in a container or a similar temporary location shielded from the environment in the municipality where it has been excavated.

The Act applies to Tøndermarsken area and aims to protect the outer borders and the lower part of watercourse Vidå and establish it as a conservation area of national and international interest. Construction, fishing, hunting and planting of trees and plants are not permitted. Dyke systems are applied to watercourses for water supply.
