Tom has over 10 years of experience from within and outside Uganda on conflict and peace research focusing on Land, Oil and Gas, Mining and Minerals Policies’ processes, humanitarian development work; monitoring and evaluation, social and participatory research. He has also carried out conflict sensitivity and gender analysis in relation to land, conflict, refugees and extractives’ programming. He has written for and presented at local and international audiences including scholarly conferences. His knowledge of the local and international contexts has developed over time through research, programming and consulting for many local and international organisations. He has also worked on post conflict contexts by informing programming in Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan. Tom possess a Masters of Arts in Peace building and Conflict resolution that focused on Land conflicts and Oil exploration for research, certifications in Conflict analysis and mediation in violent conflicts from United States Institute of Peace and has been a visiting Professional at Landesa on Women Land Rights, United States Peace Corps as an Atlas Fellow on post conflict programming and training and Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) as a Junior fellow Knowledge Production Department. He has led many conflict sensitive researches and has published an Assessment report and Info sheet: The Dynamics of Conflicts Related to Land and Natural Resources in Rupa Sub-County, Karamoja Region, Uganda for an EU - UN funded project 2013-2014.
