Bernardo Castro has been a teacher of general education since 1986. He is the co-founder of the Union of Teachers of General Education (Sinprof) and  is a Civic Activist for Land Justice with the Angolan NGO Rede Terra. He acts as an Independent Consultant on land issues (rights, conflicts, studies related to sustainability) and on Climate Adaptation  with focus on rural communities. Bernardo obtained a Masters in Climate Adaptation from the Open University of Lisbon (2015).
