The National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute was established under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to consolidate agriculture and forestry research activities within the country and develop a coordinated National Agriculture and Forestry Research System.

The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) is a regional, intergovernmental and autonomous organisation. It was established on 6 July 1979 at the initiative of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations with support from several other UN bodies and donors. The Centre came into being to meet the felt needs of the developing countries at that time as an institution for promoting integrated rural development in the region.

 

In 2008, Kepa established an office in Bangkok to initiate its programme in the Mekong Region - Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. In 2010, the Thai authorities gave the official permit for Kepa to operate a regional office. In september 2015 Kepa board decided to close the Mekong office due to the budget cuts by the government of Finland. Kepa Mekong has closed its doors by the end of January in 2016.

Project Description
Land governance is at the center of development challenges in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Governments are revising land policies and practices in order to face these challenges. The project aims to (i) assist the emergence of more favorable policies and practices for securing the rights and access of family farmers to land and natural resources; and (ii) to strengthen the effectiveness of concerned stakeholders through learning, alliance building and regional cooperation.

Since April 2004, the Rural Research and Development Promoting Knowledge Association has been operating under the umbrella of the Lao Union of Science and Engineering Associations (LUSEA) based namely Rural Research & Development Training Center (RRDTC).

Officially formed in April 2013, The Forest Peoples Land Rights Network (LandNet) is a ‘member network established under the principles of volunteerism, democracy, cooperation and unification in order to manage and utilize efficiently land and forestry resources for self-sustaining livelihoods’. LandNet is a highly participatory bottom-up network originating from  the grassroots work facilitated by CIRUM and its Alliance partners over the last two decades.

The Lao DECIDE Info is an initiative of the Government of the Lao PDR that strives to improve access to key data and information for development planning and well-informed decision-making in the Lao PDR. The platform hosts a wide range of information from the social, economic, environmental and agricultural sectors and allows to navigate, visualise, combine and download the data at different level of spatial disaggregation.

The purpose of the Mekong Land Research Forum online site is to provide structured access to published and unpublished research on land issues in the Mekong Region. It is based on the premise that debates and decisions around land governance can be enhanced by drawing on the considerable volume of research, documented experience and action-based reflection that is available.

The Land Observatory is a pilot project by some partners of the Land Matrix, designed to provide greater context and deeper insight on land deals, from a more local perspective.
