contains only publicly-available information and was prepared for public dissemination of issues related to the

work undertaken for the Ministry in the context of this project.

The native communities of San Martín and its representative organizations face innumerable challenges in relation to their lands and territory, environment, governance, identity, justice and physical integrity, among others. For many years the land titling process was stagnant due to lack of funding, but today, with the presence of several projects that have considerable sums destined to the degree, the natives are be prepared and trained in this subject, as well as in the multiplicity of issues that challenges them.

Rwanda has implemented a land tenure regularization program since 2008 that enabled the adjudication and registration of land rights for both men and women. However, Rwandan women are vulnerable to land conflicts because some men do not recognize or respect women’s rights in land. This study investigates the extent to which government institutions in Rwanda empower women in claiming and defending their land rights. Data sources include questionnaire survey, interviews, and the review of literature on land reform in Rwanda.

Land rights insecurity and temporary migration in rural China

Like most other developing countries, China experiences huge migration outflows from rural areas. Their most striking characteristic is a high geographical and temporal mobility. Rural migrants keep going back and forth between origin villages and destination areas. In this paper, we show that this temporary feature of migration can be linked to land rights insecurity. As village land ownership remains collective and as land use rights can be periodically reallocated, individual out-migration can result in deprivation of those rights.
