The economy grew 7.1 percent. Faster GDP growth reflected higher growth of the services sector, at 9.1 percent, up from 5.4 percent in 2013, when the economy suffered from the lagged impact of the 2012 aid shortfall.

Climate change is a major development challenge to Ethiopia. Climate change is expected to

adversely affect all economic sectors, eco-regions, and social groups. Agriculture is one of the

most vulnerable sectors as it is highly dependent on rainfall. This report synthesises four case

Just like the SDGs themselves, the indicators are still in the discussion phase, with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) one of the many players in this process. According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a large share of child labour takes place in family-based agriculture. However, most agricultural projects do not address child labour, even though they have the potential to contribute to its prevention and reduction. Raising awareness about project impacts on child labour and the inclusion of child labour issues in the planning, monitoring and evaluation process of agricultural projects is one promising way to tackle child labour in agriculture, as emonstrated by a study in Cambodia.

Illegal and irregular allocations of public land were a common feature of the Moi regime and perhaps it’s most pervasive corrupt practice. The Ndung’u Report as well as various reports of the Public Investment Committee details numerous cases of public land illegal allocated to individuals and companies in total disregard of the law and public interest. Most allocations were made to politically correct individuals without justification and resulted in individuals being unjustly enriched at great cost to the people of Kenya.

Le projet Fomi est intégré au Plan d’action de développement durable (PADD) de l’Autorité du Bassin du Niger (ABN) depuis 2007. Une étude d’impact environnemental et social, composée d’un plan de gestion environnementale et sociale, d’un plan de réinstallation involontaire et d’un plan de développement local, a été finalisée en 2010.

The Fomi dam project is located on the Niandan tributary of the Niger in Guinea, 30 km upstream of the Niandan-Niger confluence, near Kankan (region of Upper Guinea). In development since 1988 with an update of the feasibility study in 1999, the Fomi project is integrated in the Sustainable Development Action Plan (SDAP) of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) since 2007. An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, consisting of an Environmental and Social Management Plan, Involuntary Resettlement Plan and a Local Development Plan, was completed in 2010.
