Le Programme d’Action National de Lutte contre la Désertification est un instrument à portée nationale qui a pour objectifs de lutter contre la désertification et d’atténuer les effets de la sécheresse dans les milieux semi-arides de la Tunisie septentrionale et des milieux arides de la Tunisie Centrale et Méridionale, et ce, grâce à des mesures efficaces prises à tous les niveaux dans le cadre d’une approche intégrée.

This Regulation provides for irrigation and hydropower project-related compensation, support and resettlement.The Regulation makes provision for: compensation for recovered land; compensation for property damage, which includes damage to public works and to crops and animals; supports for the construction of houses; supports for life stabilization including food, medical educational and lighting support; production support including cultivation, husbandry and production forest planting support; formulation of a master plan on population relocation and resettlement; etc.

In this Act “land consolidation” means the complete development of all plots of agricultural land to increase production and reduce production cost by consolidating several plots of land in the same area to reorganize the lands, arrange irrigation system, construct roads or transportation routes on farms, level the ground, nourish the soil, plan the production and distribution of agricultural produce. There shall be a committee called the "Central Land Consolidation Committee " composed of ministers and Government officers.

The Decree provides the allotment of state-owned land destined to planting of perennial trees, seasonal crops and forestation, plus the water surface required for aquaculture farming to individuals, households and organizations which shall invest in the resulting production. Planning and financial evaluation of production costs shall be prepared and funds destined to support all agricultural, forestry and aquaculture activities and operations.

This Resolution consisting of 89 articles divided in X Chapters aims at defining the obligations and requirements to be followed to maintain the internal and external environment free from pollution. Chapter I deals with the studies of environmental impact aiming at confining the negative impacts during the various stages of the project.

This Act provides for the protection of agricultural land in rural areas, i.e. land that not situated in urban areas (except for provisions for the control of weed that do apply to land in urban areas). The Act shall not apply to mountain catchment areas.

This Decree defines the public property boundaries of the irrigation channel in the region of Ain Saade. The applicant, for the transfer, should comply with determined actions such as the construction of a concrete drainage channel. This Decree is applicable only after the applicant guarantees the natural flow of water in the irrigation channel.

In order to combat the desertification in Egypt, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation together with the Desert Research Center have drafted this sectoral National Action Program (NAP), to be implemented in 5 years, as specified presenting the single projects.

This Regional Act aims at the protection and restoration of land and at the same time lays down provisions on the preservation of water resources and their exploitation for irrigation. The Act provides for the subdivision of the regional territory into restoration districts, as specified in article 2. Further provisions define the functions of consortia involved in land restoration and water resources preservation.
