This paper uses the case of South Africa’s latest land redistribution strategy known as the Proactive Land Acquisition Strategy, to explore whether, and how, research can have direct and positive impacts on beneficiaries of land reform. The study is situated within the practice of action research: to explore how it can generate knowledge that can be shared back and forth between stakeholders, as well as how it may ignite changes that the participants desire. The findings are that Proactive Land Acquisition Strategy is not meeting the overall goals land reform.

Lancée le 18 mai 2012, la Nouvelle Alliance pour la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition (NASAN) est une initiative du G8 (maintenant devenu G7) lancée par le président des États-Unis, Barack Obama. La NASAN vise à accroître la part de l’investissement privé dans l’agriculture africaine de façon à « réaliser une croissance agricole soutenue et inclusive ainsi qu’à sortir 50 millions de personnes de la pauvreté au cours des dix prochaines années ». Au total, 10 pays africains ont adhéré à la NASAN.

This report first reviews how inequality in land distribution has reached extreme levels in Colombia. Then  it  analyzes  the  problem  of concentration of land from different perspectives and indicators based on the agricultural census data from 2016, focusing on the major differences between the extremes.

The Constitution of Kenya provides that every citizen has the right to property. The provision ensures that an individual or group of people that acquire land have the protection to own this property if acquired lawfully. Individuals living in informal settlements then have a right to have property when acquired through proper means. Even though there are processes in progress to address the issue of securing tenure rights in informal settlements by the government.

Launched on 18 May 2012, the New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition (NAFSN) is a G8 (now G7) initiative spearheaded by former US President Barack Obama. The New Alliance aims to increase private investment in African agriculture as a means to “achieve sustained and inclusive agricultural growth and raise 50 million people out of poverty over the next 10 years.” In total, 10 African countries have signed on to the NAFSN.

The effectiveness of the use of land in an intensive agricultural rotation is influenced by a number of factors. Of great practical interest is the study of production potential of agricultural lands of agricultural organizations, the establishment of its impact on production results in crop breeding at the regional (oblast) level, where production and economic relations are closely tied. The results of such research will optimize agricultural land usage and improve specialization of agricultural production.

The Land Policy Initiative (LPI) Steering Committee present the progress made in implementing the decisions of the Steering Committee included the secretariat prepared documentation on the transition from LPI to ALPC, addressing- the activities to be undertaken with proposed timelines supporting the ALPC transition; The Secretariat had consulted and engaged with partners in finalizing the ALPC strategic plan to ensure coordination and mobilized resources; Little progress had been made on the (three) decisions made by the Steering Committee at different meetings in relation to the Europea

Conclusions: "Widespread land conflicts and pending land governance reform, also in relation to the larger
ongoing peace process, form the key reason for opposition to the pending EU-Myanmar IPA.
As previously explained, land rights are not well established and populations living or working
on land acquired for large-scale investment projects have protested over forced evictions, loss
of livelihoods, inadequate consultation and compensation. Land governance reform is

The NGO Forum on Cambodia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries, organized a national consultation workshop on 19-20 December 2016 on the sixth version of the draft Cambodian Agricultural Land Law. In addition to inputs from various stakeholders at the workshop, a legal review was conducted with the assistance of Mr. George Cooper, an independent senior legal expert experienced in land policies.
