A consequence of the European colonization of Australia has been a significant ioss of biodiversity: one in four mammal species is either extinct or threatened. In contrast, only one species of bird has been lost from the Australian continent and there is less concern for the survival of the Australian avifauna than for mammals.

The study establishes the link between agricultural labor productivity and natural resources variables at the national level in Honduras. We show through spatial analysis of productivity and natural resources that the relationship between natural resource conditions and agricultural productivity is not as direct as one can imagine.

Like the other former Soviet states, Lithuania suffered strong declines in agricultural and industrial production following independence.
