In Africa, where most agriculture is rainfed, crop growth is limited by water availability. Rainfall variability during a growing season generally translates into variability in crop production.

The State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources addresses the conservation, management and sustainable use of forest tree and other woody plant genetic resources of actual and potential value for human well-being in the broad range of management systems.

The objective of the present study was to deepen understanding of outcomes and impacts contributed by the leasehold forestry (LHF) programme, particularly in terms of improving livelihoods, reducing poverty and rehabilitating degraded forests in the hills of Nepal, through improved forest management.
