There is a growing consensus that producer organizations are critically important for the sustainable use of natural resources. Representing the collective voices of farmers and forest-dependent people, indigenous groups and rural communities, producer organizations provide essential services to their members and are the building blocks of local democracy. Formal or informal, effective producer organizations identify and agree upon the means to manage their natural resources.
Water en natuur: een mooi koppel! : onderzoek naar de succesfactoren, belemmeringen en kansen voor het meekoppelen van water- en natuuropgaven
Nederland staat de komende jaren voor forse opgaven op het gebied van waterveiligheid, zoetwatervoorziening, waterkwaliteit en natuur. Daarbij is het belangrijk bij deze investeringen ambities te laten ‘meekoppelen’ om zo meer maatschappelijk rendement te halen. In opdracht van het ministerie van Economische Zaken heeft Alterra een onderzoek uitgevoerd naar de succesfactoren en belemmeringen van het mee-koppelen van water- en natuuropgaven.
Land use and land cover dynamics in the Brazilian Amazon: understanding human-environmental interactions
Land use and land cover dynamics are a result of the interactions between human activities and the environment. The objective of this thesis is to analyze Amazonian land use and land cover pattern dynamics in order to identify the underlying system dynamics. By combining empirical statistical models and Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping, feedbacks in the human-environment system can be explored to identify more sustainable development pathways.
Ruimtelijke optimalisatie van voederstromen in de Peel : nieuwe landgebruiksvormen en clustering ten behoeve van regionale productie van veevoer
In een eerdere studie werd verkend in hoeverre het economische en milieutechnisch haalbaar zou zijn om in regio De Peel krachtvoervervangers regionaal te verbouwen. In de in dit rapport beschreven studie stelden we ons de vraag of ruimtelijke optimalisatie wel tot milieuwinst zou kunnen leiden en vervolgens hoe regionale voercentra kunnen bijdragen en op welke locatie deze zouden moeten liggen.
Landelijk Grondgebruiksbestand Nederland versie 7 (LGN7) : vervaardiging, nauwkeurigheid en gebruik
Het bestand LGN7 geeft voor Nederland landsdekkende informatie over landgebruik. Het is een rasterbestand met een resolutie van 25*25 m hetgeen overeenkomt met een 1:50.000 schaal. Het bestand geeft een tijdsbeeld van het landgebruik voor 2012 dat voor zowel beleidsanalyses als voor modelinput is te gebruiken. In het bestand worden 39 verschillende typen landgebruik onderscheiden die geaggregeerd worden naar de acht monitoringsklassen: agrarisch gebied, kassen, boomgaarden, bossen, water, stedelijk gebied, infrastructuur en natuur.
