The Order sets out requirement standards for good agricultural and environmental conditions in order for farmers to comply with regulations on granted subsidy for land development, in accordance to the Rural Development Programme for the period 2007-2013. Criteria for being eligible to these subsidies shall be found in Appendix 1, with exception of 4.1 (Establishment and maintenance of vegetation on uncultivated land), 4.2 (Maintenance of vegetation on uncultivated land), 4.5 (Maintenance of vegetation on permanent grass areas) and 4.12 (Maintenance of vegetation on temporary grassland). The requirements of Appendix 1 shall not apply to areas that are registered as agricultural land for a period of at least five years, provided that they are not used for agricultural activities, and do not apply to areas under the schemes covered EU regulations. The area can be mowed in the period, and plant material should then be left untouched on the ground. Permanent pasture areas must be mowed once a year between 1 July and 15 September. Mowing may be replaced by grazing, as long as the land is maintained latest 15 September, where more than 50% of plant cover reaches a grass height of maximum 40 cm. Subareas under 100 m2 with a grass height of more than 40 cm are accepted and must be kept free of trees and shrubs. Where water is abstracted for irrigation purposes, maximum recovery amount of groundwater and surface water shall not be violated in accordance to article 22 of the Water Supply Act.Appendix 1 - Summary of requirements for good agricultural and environmental conditions, 2014.Appendix 2 - Conversion table for horses and ruminants.
