This Act regulates the carrying out of surveys of land by, appointment of, qualifications of, etc. land surveyors including Government surveyors, i.e. land surveyors who are public officers of the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Town and Country Planning. No survey, plan or memorandum of survey, of land shall be valid unless it has been made by a land surveyor appointed by a commission issued by the President. No land surveyor, other than a Government surveyor, shall undertake the survey of any State land, unless he has been authorised in writing by the Chief Surveyor.

This Act concerns the entry into land by authorized personnel for the purpose of carrying out soil surveys, it consists of five sections. It spells out the powers of officers under the Act (sect. 3) and provides for related matters.

“Land” here includes land covered with water and things affixed on land or growing on land (sect. 2). The Act shall apply to any area constituted as a Registration District by the Minister under section 5In each District a land registry shall be maintained in which information set out in section 6 shall be kept. Section 7 concerns appointment of land registration officers. There shall be one Registrar of Land appointed by the President. Powers of this officer are outlined in section 8.

This Act: makes provision for the appointment within the public service of the Director of Surveys Commissioner of Lands, the establishment of the Land Surveyors Board, the licensing of land surveyors and the protection of survey marks; and provides rules relative to conduct of surveys in Dominica and related matters.The Director of Surveys Commissioner of Lands shall, among other things, direct and control all public surveys, supervise and control all other surveys and examine and approve survey plans before registration of title.

This Act provides for the establishment of the Land Surveyors Board to control land surveyors.The Board shall keep a Register containing all the information of licensed land surveyors. Requirements and procedures to obtain a licence from the Land Surveyors Board are set out in the Act.

This Act grants powers to surveyors appointed by the Governor-General for purposes of this Act, imposes certain duties on such surveyors and provides for compensation of damage incurred in relation with surveys carried out under this Act.The surveyors appointed under this Act are granted the power to enter upon any land for the purpose of making any topographical, geological or hydrographical survey and to do all tings as may be necessary for such survey. A surveyor shall give a notice to landowners owners prior to survey.

The 19 sections of this Act are divided into 6 Parts: Citation and Interpretation (I); Establishment of Land Surveyor's Board (II); Licensing and registration of Land Surveyors (III); Discipline (IV); Appeals (V); Miscellaneous (VI).A Board to be known as the Land Surveyors' Board is established under section 3. Rules laid down in Schedule I apply to the constitution of the Board. The Board shall organize land surveyor examinations, consider applications for land surveyor licences, and institute disciplinary legal proceedings in accordance with provisions 10 to 12 (sect. 5).

This Act provides in 30 articles divided into 8 Parts for the establishment of a Land Surveyors Board (sect. 3) and for the control and procedures of the surveying of land by surveyors licensed under this Act. The Board is responsible for the licensing of surveyors and to control their functioning (sect. 5). Part III specifies the criteria which persons shall meet in order to be eligible to become a licensed surveyor (sects. 7 and 8). It also provides for the establishment of a register of licensed surveyors (sect. 9).

The purpose of this Federal Law is to set up conditions for fulfilling the needs of state institutions, citizens and juridical persons in land survey and cartographic products and to create conditions for the functioning and interaction between state institutions in the field of land survey and cartography. The Law consists of 3 Sections composed of 19 articles. Section 1 lays down the general provisions.

Section 2 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors is continued as a corporation without share capital under the name Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. The principal object of the Association is to regulate the practice of professional land surveying and to govern its members and holders of certificates of authorization in accordance with this Act and other Regulations in order that the public interest may be served and protected. The text consists of 47 sections.
