This Law approves fiscal benefits to the use of agricultural, forestry and silvopastoril lands and to the promotion of the «Bolsa de terras». In particular, this Law establishes tax reductions aimed at stimulating the National Granting System of lands, amending the Fee Regulation for Land Registration, approved by Decree-Law No. 322-A/2001 of 14 December.

Implements: Law No. 62/2012 creating the National Granting System of lands for agricultural, forestry or silvopastoril use, called «Bolsa de terras». (2012-12-10)

Article 14 of Section X shall be amended to add the following wording: “Until entry into force of the Law on turnover of agricultural land, but not earlier than 1 January 2016 it shall be prohibited to make contribution to authorized capital stock of economic entities in the form of land share”.

Conservation Easements Act (S.N.S. 2001, c. 28).

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the process for landowners and conservation organizations to protect private lands through conservation easements. For the pupose of the present Act a «a conservation easement» is the result of an agreement between a private landowner and a designated conservation organization. The easement places restrictions on the land for conservation purposes. The text consists of 18 sections.

This Act provides rules relative to the making, registration, validity and effects of agricultural contracts. An “agricultural contract” means an agreement whereby a contractor is let into possession of a parcel of land by the owner for the purpose of bringing such parcel of land into cultivation or for the bona fide purpose of extending the cultivation on the land, in accordance with the terms of such agreement, and includes all contracts whether registered or unregistered, but shall not include any agreement relating to the cultivation of sugarcane.

Maanulth First Nations Final Agreement Act (S.C. 2009, c. 18).

For the purpose of the present Act “Agreement” means the Maa-nulth First Nations Final Agreement, between the Maanulth First Nations, Her Majesty in right of Canada and Her Majesty in right of British Columbia, including any amendments made to it. Section 4 establishes that the Agreement is approved, given effect and declared valid and has the force of law. The text consist of 25 sections.

The present Act approves, gives effect to and declares valid the Agreement between the Committee for Original Peoples’ Entitlement, representing the Inuvialuit of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, and the Government of Canada. For the purpose of the present Act “Territory” means the Northwest Territories, Yukon and adjacent offshore areas, not forming part of the Northwest Territories or Yukon, within the sovereignty or jurisdiction of Canada. The text consists of 8 sections.

This Act amends the Land and Titles Act in provisions, concerning, among other things: powers of the Commissioner and consent to subdivision. It also inserts a new Part which establishes the Land Board and defines its functions and powers. The Board has power to: (a) allocate interest in any land in accordance with the provisions of this Act.

The present Act is made under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement. In particular, the Act deals with Category IA and Category IA-N native lands and their local administration. Category IA lands are those that were transferred from the Province of Quebec to the Government of Canada for the exclusive use and profit of the Cree bands in the James Bay region.
