Colombia has submitted two national communications (NCs 2001, 2010) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), providing information on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, and measures to mitigate and facilitate adequate adaptation to climate change, among other information. In 2015, Colombia also presented its First Biennial Update Report (BUR), including the REDD+ technical annex. In 2010 and 2012, GHG emissions from the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector contributed to respectively 58 % and 43% of the national GHG emissions.

Article 67(2) (e) of the Constitution of Kenya mandates the Commission to initiate investigation on its own initiative or on a complaint into historical land injustices and recommend appropriate redress. To give effect to this Constitutional requirement, section 15 of the National Land Commission Act as amended by Section 38 of the Land Laws amendment Act 2016, provides the legal framework for redressing Historical Land Injustices.

The Centro Terra Viva (CTV), in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI), promoted the implementation of the project on ‘documentation of unplanned human responses to climate change’. This project was part of a more general WRI approach, involving other countries, to research how communities in Africa are responding to climate change and the effect of these responses on the environment and biodiversity.

The study region is one of the most endangered area from wind erosion in the country. This process, coupled with recurrent droughts in last decades and the mishandling of productive practices have generated desertification. This study presents a review of the interaction of these processes based on literature, field survey and perception of producers. Recommendations for rehabilitation are proposed. The area covers 6.5 million hectares, hosting in 2002: 550,000 people and 7,825 farms in irrigated and non-irrigated lands. Irrigated lands are devoted to agricultural production.

Environmental governance in the context of climate change and land use is examined with the aim of specifying the conditions under which the incorporation of effective public participation in the governance process can be achieved. This is done through an examination of the preferences of the actors involved, an analysis of the land use issues in climate change governance in Thailand, the extant institutional arrangements for public participation, the difficulties of implementing effective public participation, and possible ways of mitigating these challenges.

This Decree aims at preserving green areas and providing landslide safety during construction. In order to determine the best construction site in cities, urban green spaces shall be mapped on paper and in electronic form. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Committee for Urban Planning and the State Committee for Construction and Architecture shall publish electronic maps of urban green spaces and landslide site on their official website after approved by the Council of Ministers.
