The Government decrees to validate the Regulation. State Geodetic Survey over Geodetic and Cartographic Activity is carried out for the purpose of ensuring observance of the Russian Legislation on geodesy and cartography by all the parties involved in the sphere of relationship of geodesy and cartography. The Federal Service of Geodesy and Cartography carry out state Geodetic Survey. The main tasks of State Geodetic Survey are: 1). Supervision over cadastre (land-surveying) activity, elaboration of geo-information systems and other geodetic and cartographic activity in accordance with legislative and normative acts. 2). Supervision over the correct representation of state border, the territory of the Russian Federation, its continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone, the territorial boundaries of the Regions and municipal units within the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. 2). Licensing of geodetic and cartographic activity. 3). Registration of geodetic and cartographic work. Persons obstructing the accomplishment of State Geodetic Survey are liable to prosecution in accordance with the Russian Legislation currently in force. Federal Service of Geodesy and Cartography elaborates in co-ordination with other Federal Executive Bodies concerned and validates normative and technical documentation regarding carrying out state geodetic survey.
