This Act regulates land tenure in villages established pursuant to a settlement and resettlement program in the 1970's. Section 3 provides for the extinguishment of all rights to occupy or to use land in accordance with any customary law existing or held or claimed to be held by any person in any village. Compensation shall not be paid for the loss of any right or interest in or over land which has been extinguished. The Minister may establish a Tribunal having a defined jurisdiction over the area in which disputes may arise and shall perform all the functions and exercise all the powers of the Tribunal under this Act (sects. 6 and 7).
