The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Act covers all aspects of the registration and transfer of title to land. The Act is divided into seven Parts as follws: The office of titles (I); Bringing land under the Act (II); The Register (III); Electronic instruments (3A); Registration of dealings with land (IV); Incidental provisions (V); General (VI); and Transitional (VII). Part IV makes provision for the registration of various dealings in land: leases, mortgages, acquisition by Statute, sales by Sheriff, etc.
Decreto Nº 48/92 - Amplía funciones de la Oficina de Ordenamiento Territorial.
El presente Decreto, que consta de 9 artículos, amplía las funciones de la Oficina de Ordenamiento Territorial (OOT), creada mediante el Decreto Nº 35-91, del 19 de agosto de 1991. La OOT sustituye a la Comisión Especial para la revisión de las asignaciones, titulación o posesión de tierras rústicas a que se refiere el mencionado Decreto, asumiendo sus funciones (art. 1º).

Survey of Lands Act, 1972 (Act No. 44 of 1972).
The Minister may authorize a surveyor to survey land for the purpose of determining the suitability or otherwise of the land for public purposes specified in the Order of authorization (sect. 3). "Surveyor" means the Chief Surveyor, any Government surveyor deputed by the Chief Surveyor or a Sworn Land Surveyor designated by the Minister (sect. 2). The owner or occupier of the land shall not be entitled to compensation except in respect of damage to improvements existing on the land at the time of entry thereupon (sect. 4).
Acuerdo Nº 275/92 - Instruye al Instituto Nicaraguense de Reforma Agraria (INRA).
El presente Acuerdo Presidencial, que consta de 2 artículos, instruye al Instituto Nicaragüense de Reforma Agraria (INRA) para que en el proceso de legalización de los beneficiarios de la reforma agraria actúe en base a los presupuestos siguientes: a) al reconocimiento de la legitimidad de la tenencia de las tierras de los poseedores amparada en documentos otorgados por la autoridad pública competente; b) que el reconocimiento de legitimidad no alcanza a la tenencia de tierras en base a los títulos emitidos dentro del concepto de reforma agraria entre el 25 de febrero y el 25 de abril de 19
Decreto Nº 35/91 - Crea la Oficina de Ordenamiento Territorial.
El presente Decreto, que consta de 35 artículos, crea la Oficina de Ordenamiento Territorial (OOT), como una dependencia del Ministerio de Finanzas que operará a nivel nacional, cuyo objetivo principal será coadyuvar en el ordenamiento de la propiedad inmueble (art. 1º).
