The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

Ordinance amending the Land Transaction Ordinance.
The present Act introduces some amendments to the Land Transaction Act of 9 December 1992. In particular, the Act amends, inter alia, article 4 establishing that the valuation of rights to land in Liechtenstein and of other assets situated in Liechtenstein is determined by the market value and the provisions of valuation legislation. The text consists of 3 articles.

Ngāruahine Claims Settlement Act 2016 (No. 93 of 2016).
The purpose of this Act, consisting of 152 sections, divided into four Parts and completed by four Schedules, is: to record the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Ngāruahine in the deed of settlement; and to give effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement that settles the historical claims of Ngāruahine.
Regional Law No. 34-OZ amending Regional Law No. 283-OZ “On state support of citizens carrying out subsidiary smallholding”.
Article 3 shall be amended to add the following wording: “Maximum allowable land area allotted in ownership or on other terms of possession set at ten hectares shall not be applicable in case of allotment on condition of free of charge tenancy or on lease of public or municipal land plots”.

Taranaki Iwi Claims Settlement Act 2016 (No. 95 of 2016).
The purpose of this Act, consisting of 172 sections, divided into four Parts and completed by three Schedules, is: to record the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Taranaki Iwi in the deed of settlement; and to give effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement that settles the historical claims of Taranaki Iwi.
