The aim of this Act, consisting of 6 Parts and 3 Schedules, is to consolidate and amend the law relating to the administration of the lands comprised in Maori reserves, West Coast settlement reserves, and Maori townships, and to make provision in respect of certain other lands administered by the Maori Trustee.

La presente Ley, que consta de 7 artículos, dispone que para la ejecución del Programa de Transferencia de Tierras (PTT), de conformidad con los Acuerdos de paz, en especial con lo acordado en octubre de 1992, se beneficiará a los pobladores y trabajadores de las tierras afectadas por el PTT, así como a los ex-combatientes de las fuerza armada y del FMLN que ratificaron su decisión de optar a los beneficios de dicho programa y que se encuentran registrados en la Oficina Coordinadora del Tema Agrario (OCTM) para la ejecución de la segunda y subsiguientes fases del PTT.

In accordance with the division of the State into (a) Eastern and Central Division; and (b) Western Division, the Act makes provision for the administration and management of Crown land in the Eastern and Central Division of the State. These Rules are made under section 181 of the principal Act, and relate to the procedures to be followed in the application to the Registrar of Titles, under section 133 of the Act, for confirmation of possessory title. The model form is presented in the annexed Schedule.

These Regulations (24 sections and 1 Schedule) are made pursuant to section 181 of the principal Act and relate to the faculty of any person who considers himself entitled to absolute ownership of any land, either in his own right or as trustee, and who is or would, but for some tenancies or incumbrances, be in actual possession of the land, to apply for a certificate of possessory title. They specify the contents of the request, notice requirements, legal/administrative proceedings, etc. The Schedule contains model forms for the purposes of these Regulations.
