Analysis of land resources for sustainable land use

The article discusses the basic concepts of sustainable land use. The analysis of land use in Kazakhstan for sustainable land use in the formation of the economy was carried out, the economic foundations of a balanced land use were defined as well as the ways for their implementation were identified. The analysis of changes in the areas of land of different categories during the period between the years 1991 and 2015 was carried out. It was established that sharply decreased the area of agricultural land, and greatly increased the areas of reserve land, human settlements and woodland.

Land information system (LIS) is a convenient tool in the legal, administrative and economic decision-making process. The data of LIS includes: cartographic basis of spatial land datasets, thematic spatial land datasets and a variety of important information from the cadastre, registers and information systems. Lithuanian Land Information System is a developed and expanding field of information technology, which could be more used by the public users of Lithuania and other countries.

About methodology of state regulation of market of agricultural lands

The problems of agricultural land (AL) market state regulation have been analyzed, including the shortcomings of the new law concerning withdrawal of land plots from lands of agricultural purpose in case of non-use of them for the intended purpose. The law considers land as the land of natural and legal persons, but not concern land shares, which occupy in the structure of vacant land of about 50%. This gap needs to be bridged. A more careful approach is needed for the identification and definition of cadastral cost of land.

In Ukraine, degradation of land resources is a complex ecological problem, preventing sustainable development of land employment. Land protection from degradation requires development of measures in the process of land management at regional and local levels. Efficiency of the measures depends considerably on reliable information about quantitative and qualitative conditions of lands, due to the fact that it forces timeliness of the research. The purpose of this research is to analyse the situation of policy documents and basic laws (constitutions), related to the rational use of rural land and fertile soil as an important natural resource. The analysis has shown affinity of common laws of different countries in relation to the preservation and improvement of agricultural land and to the provision of necessary infrastructure conducive to the development of agriculture. From the old times Lithuanian manors were the main centres of diplomacy, administration and culture. The applied land reforms, war and post-war periods and changing regimes altered the structures of the manors; their owners and users changed as well. The number of homesteads of manors and their territory highly decreased. During various periods of time more than 150 manors were present in the current territory of Panevėžys district municipality. The aim of the research is to analyse the land use of the least researched homesteads of former manors in 1923 and 2016.

The article analyses the changes of agricultural production development and the demand of rural planning in the post-reform period. The main aim of the research is to identify the problems of land use and the formation of farms as the territorial-production structures in Lithuania as well as to analyse the possibilities of finding solutions to them. Tendencies of the decrease of the number of rural residents and farms were determined, the regulation of which is possible by improving working and living conditions in rural areas by means of public support measures.

Econometric analysis of farming land abandonment in the Tohoku region using community level data

The agricultural census of 2015 indicated that the total area of abandoned farming land reached to 424,090 ha which accounts for nearly 10% of total farming land in Japan. However, little is known about economic, social, and geographical characteristics that lead farmers to leave their farming lands idle. Tobit and quantile regression analysis are used to identify the underlying factors and the promising countermeasures using community level data in the Tohoku region of Japan.
