good. As such, and given that 15 percent of the original
Amazon forest area has already been lost, households
worldwide might be willing to pay to reduce or avoid
additional losses. A full elicitation of global preferences
for valuing preservation of the current forest, using
stated-preference population surveys, would be costly and

This paper examines and discusses issues concerning the smallholder teak forestry in taungya style in southern Laos. The Provincial department of Agriculture and Forestry of Champasack Province introduced teak forestry for two reasons; poverty reduction and reforestation. We have conducted surveys in a rural village which has typical features of population size and ethnic. Questionnaire survey and field survey with GPS were conducted to collect household-level information and to produce an accurate land-use map respectively.

The protection of agricultural land is an important issue because the area of food production per capita will be decreasing by several estimations in the next decades. The planning measures to ensure the preservation of valuable arable land are among the objectives of county plans in Estonia. However, there is no clear methodology for determination of valuable agricultural land as of now. The aim of the study was to develop methodology in order to determine valuable agricultural lands in the frame of preparation of countywide spatial plans in Estonia.

An independent investigative report on the impact of investment of Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Vietnam Rubber Group and two International Financiers (IFC and Deutsche Bank) on local livelihoods, land rights and environment in the project areas in Cambodia and Lao. It includes a map showing all known ELCs allocated in Cambodia as of 2013 as well as a map showing all known concessions and land leases across Laos.

The article examines the key aspect of land relations – the possibility of appropriation and existing approaches to the re-distribution of land rent. Examination of rent relations begins with the analysis of approaches to the solution of this problem in classical economic theory. We have systematized existing approaches to the definition of the essence of rent. We have classified the types of rent with their detailed characteristics. We have established existing problems in the realization of rent relations at present time.

Using the database of eight Central and Eastern European transition economies compiled from the World Bank collection of World Development Indicators, the authors examine the relationship between high contract-intensive money as an indicator of contractual and property rights (or a general measure of the quality of governance and institutions) and performance of several macroeconomic indicators (GDP growth, FDI to GDP ratio, employment rate etc.) over the period from 1990 to 2011. The Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to determine the strength of the relationships.

The paper gives an overview of the directions and results of research carried out in geodesy and land management at the Latvia University of Agriculture from the year 1939, when the Surveying Department (later the Department of Geodesy) was established, up to the present day. Since the beginnings of the Department, researches in geodesy have been associated with problems of precise levelling: vertical movements of the earth crust, deformation of buildings and structures, as well as accuracy evaluation of geodetic instruments.
