These Regulations lay down rules for the integrated prevention and control of pollution arising from certain industrial activities. They also lay down rules designed to prevent or, where that is not practicable, to reduce emissions into air, water and land and to prevent the generation of waste, in order to achieve a high level of protection of the environment taken as a whole.

This Act establishes rules governing the reletting of agricultural land. Where a lessor desires to make any change in the conditions of a lease on the expiration of its term, unless an agreement is reached with the tenant, he shall apply to the Rural Leases Control Board (which is established under article 5) and indicate the proposed changes.

These Regulations provide rules for the use of deposit of waste for the filling up of land sites.

On the basis of the present Ordinance, all rights and liabilities, whether vested or contingent, relating to immovable property belonging to, or possessed, held or administered by the Government, or relating to the administration thereof, to which the Accountant General was entitled shall be transferred to the Commissioner of Land.

These provisions lay down some amendments to the Nitrates Action Programme Regulations as regards slurry and requirements relating to the manner of land application of fertilizers. New provisions concerning penalties are laid down as well.

The present Act makes provision in matter of transfer or grant on any title of immovable property which belongs to or is administered by the Government.

These Regulations provide additional measures procedures and guidance to rules contained in the Waste Management (Permit and Control) Regulations, 2002, on the controlled disposal of Polycholorinated Biphenyls and Polycholorinated Terphenyls, the decontamination or disposal of equipment containing such substances, or the disposal of used substances in order to eliminate them completely.

By way of implementation of the Fertile Soil (Preservation) Act, these regulations concern the submission of the application for transportation of fertile soil.

These provisions lay down some amendments and addenda to the Waste Management (Landfill) Regulations. The amendments concern waste acceptance procedures (regulation 14), temporary storage of metallic mercury and related requirements.

The Act provides for the establishment in Malta of the Land Registry for the purposes of registration of title to land.
