This Law regulates the exploration for and development and production of petroleum in Ghana and defines duties and rights of persons involved in such exploration, development or production. No person, except the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation shall engage in the exploration or production of petroleum except in accordance with the terms of a petroleum agreement or any other authority granted or recognized under this Law. A person wishing to negotiate a petroleum agreement shall apply to the Secretary for Fuel and Power and forward copies of the application to the National Energy Board, the Land Commission, and in case forestry resources are affected, the Forestry Commission. After termination of operations, lands shall be restored and causes of damage or danger to the environment removed.
