This document contains the Policy Framework for Pastoralism in Africa, which was drafted by the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission. The document reflects a continent-wide policy initiative which aims to secure, protect and improve the lives, livelihoods and rights of African pastoralists.The framework explicitly recognizes the rights of pastoralists and the need to provide security, services, infrastructure and economic opportunities in pastoral areas which are comparable to non-pastoral areas.

Article 1 shall be amended to add the following wording: “The right to allotment on condition of ownership of public and municipal land free of charge shall be granted to citizens that have lost their housing facilities as a result of natural or technological disaster”. This Act amends certain provision of the Constitution of Tonga. In particular, it updates the supreme law of Tonga as regards the rule of law and the judicial power. It is worth noticing the insertion of New Clause 83A “Rule of law and Judicial Independence”, which stipulates that the existing underlying constitutional principles of the Rule of Law and Judicial Independence shall always be maintained.

The present Code is made under the Environmental Management Act and the Waste Discharge Regulation. In particular, the Code provides for the protection of land and water. Section 2 establishes that this Code applies to a person who conducts a wood processing industry and who operates, or proposes to operate, a landfill facility solely for the disposal of waste incidental to the wood processing operations.
