Mona Niemeyer is currently working at Transparency International Secretariat on the Land and Corruption in Africa program. Coordinated by the international Secretariat and implemented by TI National Chapters in Sub-Saharan Africa the program seeks to research, advocate and promote greater transparency, accountability and transparency in land governance.
Previously, Mona has worked with the National Human Rights Institute in Germany as well as the Ombudsman for Human Rights & Justice in Timor-Leste. Particular areas of interest and issues she worked on include land rights, the interrelation of anti-corruption efforts & the realization of economic, social and cultural rights, the human rights to water and sanitation, women’s rights, the right to education and the right to development.
Mona holds a B.A. in sociological & political sciences as well as an LL.M. in Economic, Social & Cultural Rights from the Irish Centre for Human Rights in Galway, Ireland.
