The present Law distinguishes between five types of property:(1) State property, which includes "material and technical basis of the society under state control" and assets used in operations carried out by the state. According to article 4, paragraph 2, the state may grant the right to use natural resources (land, water, forests) to other organizations, economic units and individuals.

La Ley consta de 26 artículos. En el artículo 1º se declara expropiado por ministerio de ley el excedente del límite de 245 hectáreas de tierra rústica, establecido por el artículo 105 de la Constitución, que por causa imputable a sus propietarios o poseedores no fue transferido en el plazo establecido por la Ley; quedan exceptuadas las tierras que pertenezcan a asociaciones cooperativas y comunales campesinas. El dominio de las tierras expropiadas pasa al Instituto Salvadoreño de Transformación Agraria (ISTA) (art. 2º).

This Act lays down basic provisions on land tenure, both urban and rural. land can be owned only by Lithuanian citizens, or by the State (art. 3). Private ownership of land conveys certain standard rights and privileges, amounting to the free and unimpeded enjoyment and disposition of the owner's property (art. 7). Usufructury rights accrue to the leaseholders of private and State-owned land (art. 8).

With a view to effecting the environmental protection of the bed of rivers and lakes, which dry up and become exposed as a result of a natural or man-made change in the former course of the river or surface of the lake, the statute reverses the rules governing ownership of newly-exposed river or lake beds (called riveraine and lacustrine "appurtenances"), which henceforth shall accrue to the State in lieu of the owners of riparian or coastal land.

This Act makes provision for certain aspects regarding debts of insolvent estates of deceased persons. It lays down rules for the administration of estates (by court), defines rights of secured and unsecured creditors in respect of an estate but provides that this Act shall not prejudice any lien, charge or other security that a creditor may hold for the securement of the debt.

La presente Ley tiene como objetivos la protección, el desarrollo y el fortalecimiento de la actividad platanera. Para ello, introduce normas tendientes a garantizar la seguridad en la tenencia de la tierra. En particular, declara inafectables e inexpropiables las tierras nacionales, ejidales o de propiedad privada dedicadas al cultivo del plátano. This Law defines the legal regime of refused agricultural lands (lands which are not accepted into use or ownership by farmers). Refused lands are considered as State agricultural lands. They are transferred to the administration of the General Directorate of Forests and Pastures. The latter, through its regional directorates and in collaboration with the land distribution commissions, determines the areas of refused lands based on the data given by the municipalities and communes and certified by the immovable property offices.
