In this study, a drought analysis has been carried out for Aksu-Antalya Irrigation Area by using Aydeniz Method and Geographic Information Systems. Meteorological data of Antalya, Isparta, Korkuteli and Manavgat stations including temperature, precipitation, humidity and sunshine hour were used. Annual drought maps were generated by using ArcGIS 10. According to the results of the study, there were no drought periods from 1985 to 2006.

Soil erosion due to accelerating runoff in various land cover types pose a serious threat to the long term sustainability of the fragile Himalayan landscape characterized by subsistence farming. Delimitation of high runoff zones, fostering soil erosion in the agricultural dominated watersheds is thus a necessity for watershed managers, NGO’s, urban planners, policy makers, and municipal administrations. The approach is practical, SWAT is a straightforward modeling system using GIS information. The BMP is also a very practical approach to mitigation of runoff accumulation on sub basin.

Sinds 1 januari 2012 is basisregistratie topografie (BRT) vrij beschikbaar voor burgers. Wat het effect is op het gebruik is echter onbekend. Een monitor is ontwikkeld door Kadaster samen met Wageningen UR. Het bestand wordt meer gebruikt, bedrijven en ook burgers beginnen met het ontwikkelen van toegevoegde waarde producten en administratieve lasten voor overheidsorganisaties zijn afgenomen. Ook door het Kadaster wordt een open BRT als positief ervaren.

Europa is de laatste honderd jaar enorm verstedelijkt, maar óók groener geworden. Sinds 1900 nam het bosareaal met een derde toe; landbouwgrond is er steeds minder nodig. Promovendus Richard Fuchs reconstrueert overigens veranderingen in landgebruik, om de invloed ervan op klimaatverandering vast te stellen.

Land use and land cover dynamics are a result of the interactions between human activities and the environment. The objective of this thesis is to analyze Amazonian land use and land cover pattern dynamics in order to identify the underlying system dynamics. By combining empirical statistical models and Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping, feedbacks in the human-environment system can be explored to identify more sustainable development pathways.
