Guyana Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper 2011 – 2015 is a confirmation of the path taken in 2001 with the Guyana’s first PRSP and it is a review of the key developments outlined at that time. Goals of the Strategy are: (i) generating economic growth; (ii) improving social services’ provision; (iii) enhancing governance structures; and (iv) progressing towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

As the world is urbanizing, many cities are grappling with a population that is growing rapidly, thereby increasing demand for land and housing. This pressure on land and housing markets often is exacerbated by inappropriate or inadequate policies. The result is a supply of well-located land and housing that falls well short of demand and the proliferation of poorly serviced informal settlements, many of which are located far from jobs, city services and amenities.

Este estudio analiza la relación entre la tenencia de títulos de propiedad (registrados) y los mercados inmobiliarios en zonas de la ciudad que tuvieron un origen informal y/o ilegal. Al hacerlo plantea cuestionamientos a los presupuestos internacionales y encuentra paradojas en el funcionamiento del mercado de suelo popular. La metodología es cuantitativa y cualitativa. Las conclusiones muestran que en asentamientos no consolidados la tenencia de un título de propiedad contribuye a un mayor valor de los predios con relación a aquellos no titulados.

Study on Population Forecast Model in Planning of Land Use

On the basis of describing characteristics and condition of application of natural growth model of population, weighted average growth model, regression forecast model and GM(1,1)forecast model, taking Gushi County in Henan Province as an example, according to the statistics of population in Gushi County Statistical Yearbook from 1991 to 2007, we establish four models to conduct fitting on population change respectively, and meanwhile, we predict population size from 2008 to 2009 and conduct preciseness test on the population size.

 Land is a scarce resource increasingly affected by the competition of mutually exclusive uses. Fertile land in rural areas becomes scarcer due to population growth, pollution, erosion and desertification, effects of climate change, urbanization etc. On the remaining land, local, national and international users with different socioeconomic status and power compete to achieve food security, economic growth, energy supply, nature conversation and other objectives.
