Distinguishing between the ecosystems’ capacity to generate ecosystem services (ES) and the actual use of these service (ES flow) in ES assessment and mapping is important to develop an understanding of the sustainability of ES use. This study assesses the spatial variation in ES capacity and flow in the Mediterranean small island state of Malta. The services included in this study were crop provisioning, beekeeping and honey production, fodder and livestock production, crop pollination, air quality regulation, and aesthetic ES.

This study examined how planning mechanisms support affordable housing supply in Australia and overseas. In England 43 per cent of affordable housing built in 2015–16 (12,866 units) were delivered due to inclusionary planning requirements, while more than 500 cities in the United States have inclusionary zoning or impact fee requirements to supply affordable housing. In Australia planning systems can support affordable housing supply, but additional funding or subsidy is usually required to produce homes affordable to those on low and very low incomes.

In the wave of efforts to encourage and support more “responsible” land investments, one aspect has been largely overlooked: are governments equipped with the legal and technical support needed to effectively negotiate and conclude investment contracts that lead to responsible outcomes?

Current urban developments are often considered outdated and static, and the argument follows that they should become more adaptive. In this paper, we argue that existing urban development are already adaptive and incremental. Given this flexibility in urban development, understanding changes in the so-called ‘rules of the game’ which structure and change collective action, is increasingly relevant. Gaining such insights advances the ability of planners to deal with perceived spatial problems. The aim of this paper is twofold.

In 2008, a presidential regulation number 54 (Peraturan Presiden Nomor 54 Tahun 2008 - Perpres 54/2008) that regulates uses of land for various degrees of utilization and conservation across Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, Puncak and Cianjur (Jabodetabekpuncur) was issued. Perpres 54/2008 is a reference for the implementation of development related to water and soil conservation, the availability of ground water and surface water, flood prevention, and economic development for the welfare of the community.

O artigo apresenta um conceito amplo de regularização fundiária, relacionado   espécie de zoneamento urbano especial denominado "Zona de Especial Interesse Social", ou, simplesmente, "Zeis". Além de explicitar os conceitos e relacioná-los, o texto oferece breve histórico das Zeis, expõe seu modo de funcionamento e analisa algumas das dificuldades que ainda limitam a regularização fundiária de assentamentos urbanos informais no Brasil. Esse Caderno Pólis é fruto do projeto “Capacitação de agentes locais: instrumentos didáticos para o ensino da regulação urbanística” desenvolvido pelo Instituto Pólis e apoiado pelo Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Este projeto parte do reconhecimento de que foi cumprida uma primeira etapa após a aprovação do Estatuto da Cidade, em 2001: a de construção de uma rede e disseminação por todo o território nacional de um grau básico de conhecimento a respeito do Estatuto da Cidade.
