This presentation will present the importance of plant pests and diseases and their impact on food security, with examples of exotic invasive plant pests and diseases that cross borders, as well as the strategic role of international Gene Banks in plant genetic resources exchange. The presentation will also emphasize how the international germplasm health units function, what they are, and the measures and procedures followed to achieve safe movement of genetic resources.

Climate change is one of the major concerns mankind will have to deal with for a long period of time. Judicious use of adaptation and mitigation measures are the only avenues for addressing climate change and associated impacts. Building climate science literacy is vital for citizens to understand the impacts of climate change and develop solutions to mitigate climate change and adapt to its effects. AICCRA-RUFORUM partnership aimed at developing continental-wide top-priority course modules in order to build capacity at different levels on the continent.

Worldwide, cell phones are used by 5.4 billion people. They are becoming increasingly prevalent in the rural areas of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), providing smallholder farmers with access to agricultural markets. If they reduce information asymmetries between women and men farmers, they can also contribute to closing the gender gap in agricultural productivity. So far, however, digital innovations have had limited success in transforming agricultural systems. This may be due, in part, to the gender gap in cell-phone use.

A Digital Twin (DT) is a digital representation of reality. This report explores the implementation of DT in the context of basin scale water management, with a particular focus on developing countries. The review begins with an examination of the background of DT and then delves into successful applications of DT particularly in developing nations. It also explores the potential of integrating Virtual Reality (VR) technologies as a part of DT, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder needs assessment for effective deployment.

Transport-related projects in Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCS) encounter operational risks and challenges and have the potential to ignore and/or exacerbate peace and conflict dynamics by affecting the interplay of social, political, economic, cultural, and environmental factors that drive fragility, conflict, and violence. Being insufficiently aware of the conflict dynamics may inadvertently contribute to conflict and undermine the achievement of the project’s goals, as well as undermining its potential to contribute to peace and stability.

This report provides a deep dive on the Sen AgriHack 2023, the innovation challenge organized by AICCRA to address post-harvest losses in Senegal. Through Sen AgriHack 2023, AICCRA created a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary collaboration among participants and stakeholders to generate relevant solutions to challenges faced by farmers and value chain actors. The event also included a capacity building component on climate change and its impacts, gender responsive-csa, post harvest management provided by CGIAR experts.

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) conducted a one-day workshop on “Leveraging the Role of Computer Vision in Agriculture Applications” as part of the CGIAR Initiative on Digital Innovation Initiative (DI). The workshop was organized at Delhi Technological University (DTU) on 20th November 2023. It was a joint effort by CGIAR's IRRI with DTU, New Delhi, and was meant for research scholars, and engineering students working in the field of Digital Agriculture. Sessions on the latest technologies used in Digital Agriculture were conducted during the workshops.

The adzuki bean (Vigna angularis), known for its rich nutritional composition, holds significant promise in addressing food and nutritional security, particularly for low socioeconomic classes and the predominantly vegetarian and vegan populations worldwide. In this study, we assessed a total of 100 diverse adzuki bean accessions, analyzing essential nutritional compounds using AOAC's official analysis procedures and other widely accepted standard techniques. Our analysis of variance revealed significant genotype variations for all the traits studied.
