In this report progress report we reflect upon impact of GenderUp in the AR4D space, including its application across various scaling teams, discussions it has evoked, and its influence on other scaling tools. We describe different updates that are meant to give interested innovation teams a better understanding of.

• Improvements to the GenderUp method and website in response to its actual application.

This training manual was primarily designed to support the training of small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs on how to produce biomass briquettes from agricultural wastes and residues. Part 1 introduces key concepts in biomass briquette production and the benefits that may be realised.

The Multidimensional Digital Inclusiveness Index (MDII), initiated by CGIAR's Digital Innovation Initiative, has transformed from a theoretical concept to a practical tool for assessing digital inclusivity in various sectors. Its foundational document guides stakeholders in the Agri-Food, Water, and Land sectors, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement. The MDII is guided by eight principles, including accessibility, transparency, methodological rigor, adaptability, intersectionality, simplicity, flexibility, and clarity.

The report presents the prime aims, objectives, discussions and insights from the “Training Workshop on Digital Data and Tools for Managing Agriculture: Focusing on Earth Observation Data and Climate Change” organized at IIIT Bhubaneshwar from 21st to 23rd December 2023. Vietnam has emerged as a global fish producer. Globally, the country is the fourth-largest producer of aquatic food, and the third-largest fish exporter in the world. Vietnam is at the frontline in meeting the global demand for aquatic foods. Aquatic food is increasingly becoming a primary source of protein and micronutrients, livelihoods, national economy, and well-being for Vietnamese.

CGIAR’s Research Initiative on Sustainable Animal Productivity (also known as SAPLING – sustainable animal productivity for livelihoods, income, nutrition, and gender inclusion) has adopted an integrated approach to contribute to the transformation of the dairy sector in Nepal to make dairy production with buffaloes more productive, resilient, equitable and sustainable.

Women in agrifood systems in low- and middle-income countries are more likely than men to be adversely affected by climate change. They also have more limited climate-adaptive capacities due to socioeconomic and cultural factors, such as restricted access to resources, information and technology, discriminatory gender norms, and limited decision-making power.

To advance the use of gender-transformative approaches in climate-resilient agriculture (CRA), a review of practical resources that could support researchers and practitioners in applying gender and CRA was undertaken. The review consolidates and assesses diverse, practical resources—including research tools, methods and broader guidance—that aim to address gender inequalities/inequities, climate and agriculture, albeit to varying degrees.

Developed following the Women Empowerment in livestock Index (WELI) and aligned to the Pro-WEAI for value chains by researchers from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), the WELBI module is a new standardised tool that measures the empowerment of women involved in the livestock-related businesses.
