After having been hit by two large earthquakes in 2015 that killed over 9,000 people and rendered many more homeless, and having suffered through a long, tortuous constituent assembly process that finally resulted in a new constitution, the country has seen progress on political and economic fronts in the recent past. Governance, however, remains an issue.

Bhutan’s democracy consolidated further following the third elections to National Council and National Assembly in 2018. In the primary round of National Assembly elections, voters favored a newly established third party, Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT), followed by the opposition in the last parliament, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT). The incumbent People’s Democratic Party (PDP) failed to advance to the general round.

There is increasing awareness that innovations foster inclusive land administration and ease of access to land among citizens but studies exploring innovations in government within the context of developing countries are scanty. This study examines the effect of innovations in government on exploitation of land as a source of wealth, security of rights to land, private land ownership, and supply of information on land-use in Lagos State. The study uses a mixed research methodology. First, we identified two dimensions of innovations in government using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA).

Mining;logging and agribusiness were the main drivers of this. States that ‘verifying cases from Africa continues to be difficult. Limited monitoring of the issue by civil society;media repression and localised conflict mean attacks are probably underreported in some regions.Seven were reported killed in DR Congo;Burkina Faso;Uganda;Ghana and Kenya. Makes recommendations to governments;companies and investors.

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is implementing
the Program for Climate Smart Livestock (PCSL) in Kenya, Uganda,
and Ethiopia. PCSL is designed to build the capacity of governments,
the private sector, and livestock keepers towards improving livestock
productivity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while adapting to
climate change. In late November 2020, ILRI held a virtual workshop
with relevant stakeholders to discuss potential transformative pathways
for the livestock sector in Kenya.
