Significant progress has been made over the past decade or so in the development of policy and legislation that support the recognition of customary rights to land, with important legal rulings in Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, South Sudan, and South Africa.
The Land Watch Asia campaign seeks to enhance access to and control of land through policy dialogue, capacity building, information sharing, and networking. Seven national campaign updates highlight the major interventions and achievements of the various campaigns from 2010 to 2011 in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines.

On 23rd of January the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has launched a new position paper on large scale investment in land and its implication on development policies. Objective of the position paper is to reflect the recent dynamics. Currently the paper is available in German only.
