These Regulations implement Directive 2011/92/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private project They are concerned with the assessment of the effects of certain public and private developments on the environment and implement the EIA Directive in respect of the new two tier planning system under the Planning (Northern Ireland) Act 2011. The Regulations set out procedures and requirements for EIA to be submitted to a district council or the Department of the Environment. Development to which these Regulations apply include wastewater treatment and groundwater abstraction works.
