African Journal on Land Policy and Geospatial Sciences is a journal specialized in publishing research activities carried out in the field of geo-spatial sciences and land governance. It aims to encourage innovation, promote the exchange of knowledge and scientific outcomes related to its themes. The journal's target community is made-up of researchers, professors and professionals working in the newspaper field. The journal also aims to promote scientific articles and productions at the African, regional and global levels. The institutions as well as the international universities will enrich by their contribution the scientific level of the journal. ABSTRACTRapid urbanization has continued to occur in many post independent capital cities in Africa with serious competition for land and housing among urban dwellers thereby posing challenges to governments. Consequently, this paper examines how corruption and politics have constituted hindrances to efficient land administration and housing provision as homelessness among the urban poor is on the increase as against the provisions of the Abuja Master Plan (AMP). The locale of this study is the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

This study provides an understanding on whether land reform policies pursued by the government of Zimbabwe post-independence (1980) have an effect on the corruption in the land sector. Agriculture and corruption data from 2000 to 2017 were obtained from World Bank and Ibrahim Index of Governance website respectively. The Bai and Perron multiple structural break tests were employed to establish the break years. Structural breaks in time series assist in understanding factors affecting the dynamics of a series.
Land is the most vital resource on earth from which humankind derives almost all its basic needs. Land plays significant role through economic, social, political and cultural dimensions. Administration of this vital resource (Land) is a major issue underlying social, economic and cultural development. Its protection will be sustainable if there is proper land administration system. Land administration and management in urban Ethiopia during the last decade was in transition and has faced many interrelated challenges simultaneously.
The goal of this research was to understand the driving forces and agents that prevent the effective application of land-use policies through plan implementation, in the fastest growing city in Africa, Bamako District.The current results yield from the field work done in November and December of 2017. The survey was done at three levels, including interviews with official actors, and questionnaires sent to with citizens and the neighborhood leaders and neighborhood development Committees (Comité de Développement de Quartier: CDQ).
The concept of Private-Public Partnership was used to provide infrastructure in developed countries for long time and the arrangement was applied by other countries due to its effectiveness and efficiency. This paper tried to explore how Private-Public Partnership is useful in minimising corruption cases in land administration for the case of Bujumbura City. A mixed research approach has been used to collect primary and secondary data. The findings are based on desk review and key informants’ information selected purposively.
Land capital occupies a prominent place in production activities in Africa. In forestry companies, women workers of production excellence, do not enjoy the same rights as the male agent in terms of access to land. This article attempts to question the foundations of this societal injustice while highlighting the various shadows that overwhelm women's tenure security in the forest zone. The major goal is to study in the event of looking for sustainable, inclusive solutions.
In Nigeria, the spatial requirements of cadastral map for the purposes of land registration are based on 2D planimetric boundary coordinates without consideration for the elevation component of geometric space. Whereas, recent development in technology and practises in many countries requires the inclusion of elevation component into the cadastre. The specific objectives of this study are to determine elevation values for existing 2D cadastre of the study area from different data sources and to analyze those elevation values using statistical means.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the existing real property valuation practice in case of expropriation in Ethiopia and to propose potential bases and approaches compatible to the Ethiopian real property system based on desk review research in which existing literature are the main source. The paper found that, there is no standard and responsible institution for property valuation. As a result, valuation variation and valuation inaccuracies are common.
In August 2017, Botswana’s parliament passed the Tribal Land Bill, which became the Tribal Land Act no. 1 of 2018. It shall come into operation once the minister sanctions. Until then, the 1994 Act shall be operational. The new Act is aimed at addressing the challenges that cannot be effectively addressed by the operational Act. Some hail it as progressive, but this article argues that the Act has some limitations. Its insistence on the registration of customary grants with the Registrar of Deeds may lead to unintended consequences, such as family conflicts.
