Location

The Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) Strategic Development Plan 2010-2016, was developed during 2009 and approved by the LLU Senate on June 10, 2009.


In order to perform its functions and implement its goals and objectives, the Latvia University of Agriculture has developed three activity programs:


1. Studies 

2. Science

3. Administrative and financial support for studies and research work


The goal of the Latvia University of Agriculture is to provide the possibility to obtain higher academic and higher professional education in agriculture, veterinary medicine, food technology, engineering, forestry science, social science, information technologies and environment management sectors as well as to develop science and to maintain and develop the Latvian intellectual potential and culture.


The objectives of the LLU:


To ensure the study quality corresponding with the standards of a national university what would allow to educate competitive specialists for the Latvian and international labor markets.

To develop the scientific potential to participate in international research, to integrate the academic education and research what would ensure introduction of innovative, knowledge - based technologies into the Latvian national economy, specially, in the Zemgale region.

To ensure sustainable development for the university as a national education, science and culture institution: 


to strengthen the legal basis;

to improve the organizational structure in accordance 

to the LLU objectives;to develop cooperation with institutions, academic education and science institutions in Latvia and abroad, enterprises and professional organizations and regional institutions of Zemgale;

to manage the LLU material and technical basis effectively.

Factors affecting farmland management in Poland in 1992-2012 in the institutional context

The aim of this article has been to identify and evaluate main factors which influence the agricultural land market in Poland. Statistical data from two institutions, namely the Agricultural Property Agency (APA) and the Central Statistical Office (CSO) as well as the author’s research have been used in the paper. The time horizon of the analysis covers the years 1992-2012. The lower limit was determined by the start of operation of the Agency of Agricultural Property of the State Treasury and the launching of a process of transformation in agriculture state.

Surveying the software organization and operation of protected areas

Prerequisite for sustainable development of the Russian Federation is the creation and development of a system of protected areas. Main mechanism that creates optimal conditions for the fulfilment of functions of the PA is planning. At the present time we have to admit that there are problems that prevent from appropriate functioning of protected areas and solving the tasks assigned to them.

Land stock of Kazakhstan as an object of National land cadastre

Land cadastre differs from other types of cadastres, because the object of land cadastre is the land as a source of wealth and means of production. Specific character of methodology of cadastre is determined by features of the land. Varied feature of the land is nature of its use in agricultural production. Peculiarities of the land essentially determine specific character of maintenance, as well as ways and methods of conducting of land cadastre. In the article is analysed distribution of the land stock of Kazakhstan.

Determination of valuable agricultural land in the frame of preparation of countywide spatial plans: Estonian experiences and challenges

The protection of agricultural land is an important issue because the area of food production per capita will be decreasing by several estimations in the next decades. The planning measures to ensure the preservation of valuable arable land are among the objectives of county plans in Estonia. However, there is no clear methodology for determination of valuable agricultural land as of now. The aim of the study was to develop methodology in order to determine valuable agricultural lands in the frame of preparation of countywide spatial plans in Estonia.
