Eritreia

A Eritreia tem sido descrita como um "estado de guarnição".  Após décadas de guerra para conquistar a independência da Etiópia em 1991, qualquer ganho social feito pela Frente de Libertação do Povo da Eritreia (EPLF - sigla em inglês) no decorrer da luta de libertação foi rapidamente minado.  A recém independente Eritreia caiu rapidamente sob o regime autoritário de Isaias Afwerki, que expulsou violentamente toda oposição política, arquivou a constituição e dissolveu a Assembléia Nacional para consolidar seu governo pessoal que persiste até os dias atuais.
