I am passionate about empowerment of youth and women through strengthening their land rights. In most African nations, ownership of land is predominantly embedded in the common practice of customary law which generally grants youth and women secondary rights to land, namely through their relationships to a male relative; women in particular are rarely able to inherit land in their own right. As a young professional Kenyan woman, I believe that I stand a good chance to change the patriarchal discourse of land ownership in Kenya and in Africa at large.
