The AWARE platform, a vital component of CGIAR's Climate Resilience initiative, stands as a crucial tool connecting early warning systems, proactive measures, and timely financial interventions. Designed for anticipatory action, AWARE empowers stakeholders to mitigate the impact of disasters before they occur, emphasizing multi-level coordination and collaboration for effective responsiveness. AWARE disseminates comprehensive information across climate, market dynamics, health, nutrition, and population displacement.

This factsheet gives answers on how climate exacerbates root causes of conflict in Kenya, using A climate security pathway analysis. Two main impact pathways are identified: 1) Resource availability and access pathway; 2) Livelihood and food insecurity pathway. This publication is part of a factsheet series reporting on the findings of the CGIAR FOCUS Climate Security Observatory work in Africa (Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe). The research is centered around 5 questions: 1. How does climate exacerbate root causes of conflict? 2.

The study concludes that successful development of innovative IAA and sustainable scaling in Egypt require
creating innovative solutions to implement these systems. During the next 10 years, IAA will become an
important approach for sustainable development. Recommended innovations include the following:

things (IOT) for optimal use of resources.

There is little evidence on the association between women’s migration, empowerment, and well-being, driven in part due to difficulty in measuring empowerment in the migration context. To better understand these linkages, we developed a Women’s Empowerment in Migration Index (WEMI) and validated it with survey of 1019 returnee female migrants in Bangladesh, who had returned after working internationally, mostly from countries in West Asia.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) provides the reference for national greenhouse gas emission (GHG) inventories towards standardized, accurate, measurable, and comparable National Inventory Reports (NIR). For compliance with the 1.5⁰C commitments under the Paris Agreement, most countries have made efforts to improve their inventory methods to tier 2 or 3.

Across South Asia, millions of small-scale farmers are confronted with a range of urgent challenges. These include poverty, malnutrition, environmental deterioration, and the growing impacts of climate change and unpredictability (Ericksen et al., 2011). Despite these pressing concerns, the region’s farming systems still have potential to sustainably its productivity and profitability (Islam et al., 2019; Gathala et al., 2021).

This scoping report combines findings from a scoping visit to the case study location with a review of the literature that describes salient features of the political economy in Sudan. The purpose of this report is to document findings as a contribution to and as preparation for fieldwork on farmer-herder conflicts. The report is produced by the CGIAR Research Initiative on Fragility, Conflict and Migration and the project Supporting Pastoralism and Agriculture in Recurrent and Protracted Crises (SPARC).

Policies are critical to improving agrifood systems innovations and overall economic performance. While favorable policy decisions shape the incentives and actions of stakeholders, suboptimal policies could create bottlenecks and hinder development progress (Haggblade and Babu 2017; Resnick et al. 2018). Therefore, having an impact on policy decisions requires a good understanding of a given country’s underlying policy processes. Policies are, however, implemented by a range of stakeholders and bringing them together for action is often a challenge.

Silvopastoral systems in dry areas play a crucial role in enhancing land productivity and resilience, offering environmental benefits, and positively influencing the livelihoods of communities. Sabihia Site, managed by the Forestry Department, serves as a pilot site, shedding light on the challenges and successes of implementing silvopastoral systems. As a demonstrative model for sustainable practices, this site showcases favorable outcomes, including soil and water conservation, reduced livestock feeding costs, and enhanced biodiversity.

This document synthesizes different maps of actors involved in the development of agroecology in Burkina Faso. The gathering and synthesis of existing data on agroecology stakeholders has become a real challenge for the accumulation of knowledge. Research and development projects on agroecology have flourished in recent years, and several stakeholder maps have been produced, often as a prerequisite for the establishment of consultation frameworks between stakeholders.
