The Historical Injustices Issues Paper seeks to present the various historical land claims issues and perspective related to them and consequently proffer policy statements for their redress.

...The main objective of this research is to examine housing, land, and property rights in the context of Burma’s societal transition towards a democratic polity and economy. Much has been written and discussed about property rights in their various manifestations, private, public, collective, and common in terms of “rights”. When property rights are widely and fairly distributed, they are inseparable from the rights of people to a means of living.

Although The National Land Policy Formulation Process is concentrated on addressing land issues, the reform agenda requires inter- alia that there are policy directions for establishing an equitable framework for economic growth and access to natural resources. The natural resources in question include water, forests, minerals, mineral oils, wildlife, marine resources, fisheries, pastures, and wetlands.

The task at hand entails the critical review of the Land Laws of Tanzania, chiefly Act No.4 and Act No.5, 1999 and their subsequent revisions. This could not be done out of context, or by confining oneself solely to the statutes. It was pertinent to review the factors and processes that informed the legislation. Towards this end, an extensive literature review on various aspects related to land reforms in Tanzania was done.

Resumo Este texto apresenta os instrumentos contidos na Lei 10.257/01 Estatuto da Cidade. Aponta algumas contradições, conflitos, permanências, mudanças no Estatuto da Cidade em relação   questão fundiária urbana,  s atribuições da união, estados e municípios, planejamento urbano e participação social. Reflete sobre a ausência da dimensão espacial para a aplicação dos instrumentos nas áreas urbanas de mais de quatro mil municípios, regiões metropolitanas e aglomerações urbanas.

Seeks to move the debate and stimulate discussion of issues relevant to women’s land rights and social security beyond the unfulfilled demands for gender responsive land policies and land legal framework. Covers land tenure and ownership, provisions in Trust Land, for inheritance, for succession and matrimonial policy, the impact of HIV/AIDS on women’s land rights, land redistribution and resettlement schemes, land markets, institutional arrangements, the envisaged legislative framework.

The purpose of this Issues Paper is to move the debate and stimulate discussion of issues relevant to women’s land rights and social security beyond the unfulfilled demands for gender responsive land policies and land legal framework. It is based on lessons learned from various research findings, Kenya Land Alliance experience and discussions with colleagues with whom we work with in various capacities on land policy and law reforms in Kenya and others parts of Africa.

China is a socialist country and all land in China belongs to Chinese citizens as a whole. Article 10 of the 1982 Constitution upholds the Chinese land policy that reflects the traditional view of socialism - land of the country must be owned by the country (State) or its agricultural Collectives. State-owned enterprises or other organizations, which cannot own land themselves, may use land with permission from the State.

The Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Lands and Housing (MOLH) has finally embarked on the process of developing a National Land Policy (NLP) that is envisaged to be in place by June 2005. It has been a tortuous journey for many in the civil society and other stakeholders. Resumo O principal aspecto investigado neste trabalho é a extensão do uso da Concessão de Direito Real de Uso nos municípios de Recife e Porto Alegre, e indicar o uso efetivo de tal instrumento por parte dos beneficiários (indivíduos moradores de assentamentos regularizados) como instrumento para seguridade da posse.
