For this, the government has had to compulsorily acquire large tracts of land upon which the infrastructure is set.

Public land is a resource that should be effectively managed in the public’s best interest in line with provisions of the Constitutions of Kenya and the Land Act. The management framework governing land use and development decisions on public land should ensure protection and sustainable management of the land. Despite these provisions in law, recent media reports point toresurgenceof public land grab. The Land Development and Governance Institute commissioned this research study to establish the status of the public land management in Kenya.

It assess and analyse the state’s efforts toward GELG in relation to the VGGT, documents the best practices, identifies challenges and suggests recommendations for policy and institutional arrangements, technical issues, capacity building and strategies.

O Ministério da Terra, Ambiente e Desenvolvimento Rural possui um programa para atribuir, durante a presente legislatura, 5 milhões de títulos de DUATs (Direito de Uso e Aproveitamento da Terra). Este programa designa-se por “Terra Segura”. Visa-se principalmente o registo de direitos já adquiridos por ocupação de boa-fé. Neste momento, estima-se que somente cerca de 3% dos produtores agrícolas possuem o título de DUAT.

Social Impacts of Protected Areas on Gender in West Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

In most cases, the establishment of protected areas (PAs) goes hand-in-hand with an increase in conservation costs to communities living adjacent to these PAs. This paper draws insights from gender theories in particular feminist political ecology approach to unravel the impact of PAs on men and women around the Kilimanjaro National Park (NP) and the Enduimet Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Tanzania. Specifically, it investigates how the creation and expansion of two PAs in Tanzania have impacted men and women in different ways.

This poster is a summary of approaches and activities of the Grassroots Capacity Building for REDD+ in Asia project that are implemented in five countries: Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal and Viet Nam. The poster is developed to offer a snapshot on the overall strategic approaches and results used by the project to develop and strengthen the capacities of the grassroots stakeholders in raising awareness and influence attitudes change about climate changes and REDD+ on the ground.

Las medidas de reparación integral a favor de las mujeres deben reconocer que las violencias producto del conflicto superan el episodio mismo y agudizan las brechas de inequidad y goce efectivo de derechos entre hombres y mujeres.

This Act amends the Constitution of Zambia by repealing the Preamble and replacing Part I (Supremacy of the Constitution), Part II (National values, principles and economic policies), Part IV (Citizenship), Part V (Representation of the People). Parts from VI to XIV are also repealed and replaced. New Parts from XV to XX are inserted.

Por razões conhecidas, o sector agrícola tem um papel fundamental na economia moçambicana. Este tema é relevante, por um lado, porque a agricultura é considerada a base de desenvolvimento do nosso país e, por outro, porque as políticas públicas influenciam o comportamento de diversas variáveis da actividade agrária. Moçambique possui condições naturais para, a longo prazo, desenvolver um sector agrário diversificado, dinâmico e sustentável. Existem mais de 36 milhões de hectares de terra arável, dos quais somente 10% estão em uso e, destes, 90% pelo sector familiar (PEDSA, 2011).
